BIRDING DONEGAL

Birding Donegal is a specialized tour service of Breslin’s Donegal Holidays, LLC. 

We offer a unique style of Irish birding holiday.  We have found, from years of experience in the Irish tourism trade, that Americans traveling to Ireland for sport much prefer not to travel daily from place to place, but would rather concentrate their time in one location, enjoying their avocation, be it flyfishing, birding, or golf.

Thus, we lodge in one location in the County Donegal for our birding tour, at our first class Bed and Breakfast on the Breslin family farm near the Heritage Town of Ardara, in southwest County Donegal, which is central to all the best viewing venues.  

We also have lodging in our traditional thatched cottage, where the Breslins have been born for a couple dozen generations.  It is just up the hill from the B+B, so breakfast is a short walk down our lane through our pastures.

We don’t rush things.  If you are out early observing, we arrange a leisurely Irish breakfast (a main meal here) as late as 10:00 in the morning when you get back to our B&B.

We specialize in taking friends who like to be together.  We strictly limit our tours to not more than 10 people.  We don’t like crowds any more than you do.

Our venue, the heritage town of Ardara, County Donegal, is a small seaside village in the northwestern corner of the Irish Republic.  It has been the center of woolens and traditional weaving in Ireland for 300 years, and the home of the Breslin clan for longer than that.  It is small enough that in a week’s time you will make friends among some of the local folks.  The pubs have traditional Irish music.  

A few good restaurants in the neighborhood specialize in fresh-caught seafood.  You’ll smell the salt sea and hear the sheep on a hillside at night through your open window in our B&B.

In short, we try to take care of all the details, and let you enjoy the birding, the scenery, and the country.
