NON-FISHING ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES
While fishing for salmon and trout is the reason we started having these holiday trips, we have many alternatives for those who may want to come along on the trip with a fly fisher but may never want to walk the stream or cast a line. We can arrange them as the mood strikes the non-fishing members of the group.
The "scheduled group activities" during our holiday are purely optional, there for you if and when you want to come along. A few nights out to dinner are scheduled as a group, at local establishments famous for their grand local seafood, if you want.
A night
at a local pub for a seisun (traditional music night) is also often on the
agenda

A
tour of a working Donegal sheep
farm, with a little shearing
practice and sheepdog work sometimes interests a group.

Shopping, of course, is the
big activity with non-fishing partners who may want to
come along on the trip but not go fishing.
.
Our corner of Donegal is
famous for its hill-walking along the seacoast and many mountain paths and trails.

A day trip to the highlands,
Glenveigh National Park, and its spectacular castle and
Glen Lough is one of the
favorites.

Cycling the many less
traveled seacoast roads (rentals available) is a grand way to go
on a picnic for
a day.
Horseback riding out along
the strand (beach) is a pleasant diversion.

Golfing on a links course
along the seacoast or shore of a lough is another grand diversion, even for the
fisherman.
Day tours of heritage and
archaeological sites are here for the doing.

Perhaps a one or three day
tapestry weaving class would strike the fancy of a non-fishing partner.
Or
sitting in for a day or so on an Irish language class at our local Irish
college, Oideas Gael. It can often
be arranged.
So you see, it is not all fishing, if fishing does not suit your fancy.
