Guided Fishing by the Day:

Many people are coming to Ireland these days on tours of various kinds.  Some want to fish for just a day or two.  Flyfish Ireland can book that fishing for you.

We have a number of experienced guides for flyfishing both trout and salmon, in several venues across Ireland, for whom we book daily guide services.  All of them are certified as instructors by the Federation of Fly Fishers, and are knowledgeable about their own waters, so they can give you the fishing you want.

We can schedule you to fish a day, a couple of days, or a whole week. We can fit your fishing days into your personal trip schedule to suit your needs. Our guides can provide suitable fishing gear upon request, if you choose not carry your own rod and kit to Ireland.

We can book your fishing for you while you are still in the US planning your trip to Ireland.  We will take your deposit, by credit card, to ensure you have the services of the guide of your choice reserved for the day or days you want to fish on the waters you want to fish.

Just to whet your appetite, here are a few of our guides, and a bit about their waters:

Liam Duffy:

Liam lives in County Cavan, in the northern Midlands, about 1:45 north from Dublin.  He is a Salmon and Trout Guide, as well as a Fly dressing specialist. He is certified by the international Federation of Fly Fishers as a Master Casting Instructor.  He holds full certification by the Association of Professional Game Angling Instructors-Ireland and a Marine & Countryside Guides Certificate (with distinction).  If there's a fish in County Cavan that he hasn't met, Liam knows his father and his mother, at least.

Liam's home waters include the famous Lough Sheelin, among others.

A few facts on Sheelin:

Lough Sheelin is about 7km by 4km wide. Sheelin is famous for its mayfly fishing. The quality and size of its hard fighting wild brown trout is unexcelled. Drifting mighty loughs such as Sheelin is the way fishermen have taken trout in Ireland back through the ages

It has an area of approximately 1800 hectares (4000 acres). Located in the North Midlands, on the borders of Cavan, Meath and Westmeath, it is part of the River Inny system. This is a rich limestone lough with a capacity to produce and maintain a large stock of large wild trout. Fisheries personnel have calculated that it has a capacity to carry a bigger stock of brown trout than any lough in Ireland. Over past years the stocks reached over 100,000 trout over 8 inches long, and at least 40,000 of these trout were between 2lbs and 4lbs with some of much greater size than this. Frequently anglers report catching fish in the range 4 - 7lbs. Based on catch statistics in recent years, the average weight is about 3lbs.

The season begins 1st March and runs until 12th October.

Packie Trotter:

Packie is certified by the international Federation of Fly Fishers as a Master Casting Instructor.  He holds full certification by the Association of Professional Game Angling Instructors-Ireland.  He is an accomplished, skilled and gentle instructor, as well as a font of intimate knowledge about his waters and his trout.

Packie's home is in the town of Maguiresbridge, in County Fermanagh, about 3 hours north of Dublin.  Maguiresbridge, near Enniskillen, is adjacent to the well-known Lough Erne.  Packie is the riverkeeper for the private waters of the Colebrooke River, a main tributary to Lough Erne, on the Colbrooke Park estate.

A few facts on the Colebrooke River:

There is excellent trout fishing in 3 miles of the private estate waters of the Colebrooke River.  The river trout go up to about 3lbs. If there is good water, from July on through the fall, much larger fish, averaging 2-6 lbs, but with some of up to 10lbs, come up from Lough Erne in preparation for fall spawning.

This is classic trout habitat, in a classic settingIt shouldn't be missed by a trout fisherman visiting Ireland.
