Flyfishing School:
One week of our year Flyfish Ireland devotes exclusively to our flyfishing school. The school runs from Sunday to Saturday. We gather several of our top guides from around Ireland, all certified as instructors by the Federation of Fly Fishers. We meet at our B&B in Donegal and teach all the skills necessary to fish our varied Irish waters.
The curriculum (below) starts with the basics, as needed, including gear, leaders, and knots. From there we advance to casting classes, both single-hand and two-hand (spey).
If you are a novice caster, we take you gently through the skills training necessary to advance. If you are an accomplished caster, we work with you on individual advancement needs, including distance techniques.
If you are new or inexperienced in two-hand techniques, and want to learn, we have the people and equipment to get you started on this versatile method of presenting the fly.
After a few days, we head to the streams and loughs ~ real hooks ~ wary fish ~ for tutored practice.
Some evenings we tie a few local flies. There might be a wee dram involved. Or else we head to the local pub for a few pints and some traditional Irish music.
Class size is limited to eight students maximum.
