SAMPLE ITINERARY

Our schedule is designed to accommodate the busy person with limited time off from work.  We leave on Friday evening, and arrive back in the US on Sunday afternoon the next weekend.

We plan the first day after arriving as an easy day, to shake the jetlag and relax, as we have found from experience that our tour participants like it better that way.  

After that we have a variety of venues to explore, including pastureland, river valleys, seaside cliffs and strands, and island tours.

And after a week in spectacular Donegal, we schedule a last night's lodging at a first class hotel at the Dublin Airport, so you can spend the last afternoon and evening in Dublin city centre at your leisure, as you see fit.

Here’s an idea of how we do it.  Of course, weather is always a factor, and we may adjust the daytrip schedule to suit it and you.  Also, any day at all that you want to go off on your own is not a problem, as ultimately you are in full control of your daily itinerary:

Friday                 Leave Chicago-O’Hare in the evening

Saturday            Arrive Dublin in the morning, meet ground transportation and travel to Ardara, Co. Donegal, lunch enroute, arrive at our B&B about mid-afternoon

Sunday              An easy day.  Adjust, shake jetlag, find shops and pubs in Ardara, birding at our country location on the Breslin family farm and surrounding hills.

Monday              Walk on St John's Point at the side of Killybegs Harbour.

Tuesday             Explore the Glencolumcille peninsula -  Slieve League seacliffs (the highest in Europe) and Bunglas.

Wedneday         Journey to Arranmore Island by ferry from Burtonport. Seabird colonies on offshore rocks.

Thursday            Walk Loughros More strands, coastal sanctuary at Carn, river habitat along the Owenea River. This is prime Corncrake habitat.

Friday                  Journey to Glenveigh National Park.

Saturday             Leave Ardara in the morning, arrive Dublin airport in the afternoon,  travel to Dublin City Centre at your leisure for an afternoon and evening of sightseeing and possibly dinner.

Sunday                Depart Dublin Airport in the early afternoon, arrive Chicago-O’Hare the same afternoon.
