John Breslin has been guiding trips to Ireland for 10 years now, but he has been fishing and observing nature in and around his family's home town of Ardara, County Donegal, since he was a youth.
Flyfish Ireland/Breslin's Donegal Holidays, LLC came about because several of John's fishing companions in the states had badgered him for quite a few years to take them fishing in Donegal. Finally he broke down and organized a trip for a dozen of them.
He enjoyed it so much that he decided to make it a permanent pursuit, so he formed Flyfish Ireland. Now John leads group trips back home to Ardara every summer when the main runs of salmon enter the spate rivers of the Donegal coast from the Atlantic. He has branched out with the tour company agenda to include daily guide service bookings for fishing various venues throughout Ireland, a complete one-week flyfishing school, as well as bird watching and golf tours.
John is a life member of the Federation of Fly Fishers, and is certified by the Federation as a master flycasting instructor. He serves on the FFF Casting Board of Governors. John teaches flyfishing and flycasting in many venues, from the community college level to fishing and outdoor shows in the states. He is also a member and strong supporter of the Federation of Irish Salmon and Sea Trout Anglers, and he is a member of Trout Unlimited.
